The Real Middle East War: The Battle for Truth

In the digital age, the front lines of the conflict between Israel and Iran are not just on the battlefield but in our newsfeeds. Voices like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens have gained traction within Christian circles by reframing the Middle East through a lens of “America First” isolationism and “Replacement Theology.” To navigate this, believers must put on the armor of discernment.

The “Puppet Master” Delusion

A sinister argument currently being popularized is that Israel “controls” America, draining her resources for its own ends. This claim—that a nation of fewer than 10 million people dictates the policy of a global superpower—is a modern repackaging of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a debunked 19th-century forgery used to claim Jews secretly run the world. The reality is a strategic partnership:

  • Security Producer: Israel provides the U.S. with invaluable battlefield intelligence, cybersecurity innovations, and a stable democratic foothold in a region dominated by autocracies.
  • Cost-Effective Defense: While critics point to billions in aid, roughly 75% of those funds are spent on U.S. defense contractors. This creates American jobs and keeps the U.S. military-industrial base cutting-edge without putting “boots on the ground.”
  • Influence vs. Control: Every interest group in America—from teachers’ unions to the fossil fuel industry—lobbies the government. To single out “the lobby” while ignoring the massive spending of nations like Qatar or Saudi Arabia is a double standard that veers into antisemitism.

The “America First” Distortion

Carlson often frames support for Israel as a drain on resources that should be used at home. However, true “America First” policy requires a strong Israel. If Israel were weakened, the resulting power vacuum would be filled by the Iranian regime, directly threatening global trade, energy prices, and U.S. national security.

Furthermore, history shows that Washington, not Jerusalem, holds the leash. The U.S. consistently uses diplomatic and financial leverage to ensure Israel follows American agendas:

  • 1967 Six-Day War: Before the war, Pres. Johnson urged Israeli restraint. After the war, the U.S. established the “land-for-peace” framework through UN Sec Council Resolution 242.
  • 1973 Yom Kippur War: The U.S. brokered the 1974 and 1975 disengagement agreements, leading to Israeli withdrawals from parts of the Sinai and establishing UN peacekeeping zones.
  • 1991 Gulf War: President George H.W. Bush successfully pressured Israel not to retaliate against Iraqi Scud missile attacks to keep the Arab-led coalition against Iraq intact. He also delayed $10 billion in loan guarantees to push Israel toward the 1991 Madrid Peace Conference and a settlement freeze.

2024-2025: Under Pres. Trump, the U.S. conditioned military aid on written assurances that Israel would facilitate humanitarian assistance into Gaza. ( Aid that funded Hamas and enabled them to keep control of Gaza) and more recently they essentially mandated a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, despite internal Israeli desire to continue operations against remaining insurgent cells, the Board of Peace (chaired by the U.S.) became the governing authority over the truce

2025: U.S. mandated ceasefires. 24 June 2025: Iran broke ceasefire agreement by firing missiles, destroying a building and killing 4. The IAF was on route to destroy key Iranian sites. Trump insisted that they turn around, which they did.

Comparison: Who is the Boss?

Area of PolicyIf Israel Controlled America…The Reality (U.S. Leverage)
Military AidIt would be “no strings attached.”It is conditional, audited, and must be spent on U.S. firms.
Iran PolicyIsrael would have struck nuclear sites years ago.The U.S. has consistently blocked unilateral Israeli strikes.
War StrategyIsrael would finish every war on its own terms. The U.S. dictates when the “clock” runs out via diplomatic pressure.

Israel is a front-line sentry, but the “Puppet Master” narrative is a total inversion of the facts.

Theological Integrity vs. Modern Gnosticism

The most dangerous trend is the revival of Supersessionism—the idea that God has “replaced” Israel with the Church. Paul warns Gentile believers not to be “arrogant” toward the natural branches (Romans 11). God’s covenant to give the land to Abraham’s descendants was “everlasting” (Genesis 17:7).

Acknowledging Israel’s right to exist is not a blanket endorsement of every political decision made by their government. Rather, it is an acknowledgment that their survival as a nation is proof that God keeps His Word. New Testament prophecy regarding Jesus’ return to the Mount of Olives remains centered on a physical Jerusalem.

The Iranian Threat

Critics of the U.S.-Israel alliance often ignore Iran’s primary export: Islamic extremism. Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terror and brutally oppresses its own people. Interestingly, the fastest-growing church in the world is currently the underground movement in Iran. A victory for the Iranian regime is a victory for the chief persecutor of these Persian believers. Abandoning the region to a genocidal regime is a moral failure, not a patriotic victory.

Conclusion

As Christians, we must refuse to be swayed by “clickbait” antisemitism or polished isolationism. The battle for truth requires us to defend the historical facts of the Middle East while honouring the biblical promises God made to the seed of Abraham.

While some debate Israel’s right to exist from the comfort of a podcast studio, the ICEJ has provided over 250 bomb shelters and renovated hundreds more, proving that Christian support for Israel is measured in saved lives, not just soundbites.
